One Dark Night

Detail from ANZ cover of One Dark Night, Jan 2025

I’m excited to announce my new novel, One Dark Night, releasing first in Australia and New Zealand in January 2025, and later next year in the UK, USA and Canada.

Above you’ll see elements from the ANZ cover, which I think beautifully captures the atmosphere of this new book. It’s inspired by a real-life stretch of woodland and an old stone folly near where I currently live, supposedly one of the most haunted spots in England. Yes, it is very creepy.

Want to know more? Here’s the publisher’s blurb…

He murdered her at the folly on their wedding day, left her body for the crows. They say she haunts the woods now, a girl in a white dress.

Everyone in the small town of Thorncombe knows the tales of the haunted woods where the birds don’t sing and a girl in a white dress roams, luring people to their deaths. But when a girl is found dead the morning after Halloween, her body carefully arranged at the bottom of an old stone folly, the community is thrown into turmoil.

Local police detective Ben Chase is assigned to the murder investigation, but when the victim is identified as a student from his teenage daughter’s school, tensions rise. Was she the victim of a party prank gone wrong, or does the girl’s death represent something more ritualistic and sinister? As the investigation unfolds and the noose tightens around Chase’s own family, the only thing anyone can be sure of is that no one is safe until this violent killer is caught.

A tense, clever and claustrophobic thriller where no one is who they seem and the danger lies just out of sight.

I had great fun writing this novel. It’s a little darker and spookier than I’ve written before, with a hint of dark academia, gothic undertones and lots of twists and turns that I hope will keep you guessing to the last pages. I gave myself goosebumps while writing it.

You can pre-order the book now in Australia or New Zealand through your favourite bookseller, or look out for more publication details and cover reveals from the other territories soon.

Thanks, as always, for your support. Happy reading!
