I am thrilled to announce that Simon & Schuster (UK/ANZ) have acquired two new novels I’ve been working on. The first of these, The Search Party, launches in January 2024.

Sometimes the wildest places aren’t those we visit …

but those hidden deep within.

The Search Party sees four families gather at a glamping site in rugged north Cornwall, hoping for a weekend of fun and reconnection. Over the course of three days, they must face not only the wildness of the landscape around them, but the wildness that can rise up in all of us when faced with the most extreme circumstances.

I love this novel. I think it carries the hallmarks of my earliest books, but it’s a darker, twistier escape - more thriller than drama - with a cast of characters that I hope will captivate, intrigue and infuriate readers - and one or two who might even break your heart. It’s about family conflict, friendships pushed to breaking point, and how our deepest secrets can drive us to commit the darkest acts.

I began writing the story during the pandemic, where it proved to be my own release from those isolated days trapped at home. It was a joy to go tramping across the Cornish clifftops, breathe salty sea air and plant my feet in sandy coves, if only in my imagination - though of course I make things far less idyllic for my characters.

I’m incredibly excited and grateful that I get to continue this wonderful career. Nothing brings me greater creative satisfaction than losing myself in the flow of a novel, and writing those two magic words: The End.
